Coach Griffin Spotz is in his 16th year as a high school lacrosse head coach in Georgia and his 13th season leading Walton High School. He began his coaching career by starting the Duluth High School boys lacrosse program before founding Dirty Birds Lacrosse in 2013.
At Walton, Spotz has led the Raiders to seven Elite Eight appearances, four Final Fours, and the 2019 GHSA 6A-7A State Championship. That season, Walton finished 21-2 and ranked No. 1 in Georgia, earning Spotz the 2019 GHSA/NFHS Boys Lacrosse Coach of the Year honor. He was also named MDJ Coach of the Year in 2014, 2019, and 2022. In 2022, he led Walton to its first Region Championship and a state championship runner-up finish.
Spotz has served as the 7A, now 6A, Ad-Hoc Representative for Boys Lacrosse to the GHSA since 2022. His programs have produced numerous All-State, All-American, and Academic All-American players, along with multiple Division I and numerous Division II and III athletes.
Away from the field, Spotz values his family most. He and his wife, Natalie, have two children, Rylan and Ivy. In 2022, he started the K1 age group for Walton Jr. Lacrosse, where he now coaches Rylan and the future 2035 class.
