“Langley Thunder Announce New Head Coach”

Langley Thunder of the Western Lacrosse Association (WLA) announces Rod Jensen as the new Head Coach.

Rod Jensen is an experienced coach within lacrosse and other sports. He brings a multi‐disciplined and educated approach to the Thunder

.Rod replaces the Langley Thunder’s Head coach for 2009 & 2010 Randy Delmonico. Randy served the Langley Thunder well for the past two seasons. Randy leaves with the thanks of the Thunder Family (players, coaches, volunteers, and fans).

Jensen recently helped the Coquitlam Junior Adanacs win their first every Minto Cup (Canadian Championship for Junior A Lacrosse). Jensen worked last winter as defensive coach with the Calgary Roughnecks of the National Lacrosse League (NLL). A position he is unable to fulfill this coming season for family logistic reasons.

Jensen’s experience coaching includes:

Head Coach of Coquitlam Adanacs – 2005‐2007, qualifying of the WLA playoffs each year and a Mann Cup

appearance in 2007. Winning BCLA Coach of the year in 2007

1st Head Coach of Delta Islanders BC Junior A League for 2003‐2004 – winning coach of the year 2003.

Offensive Coordinator of Vancouver Ravens (NLL) 2002‐2004

Head Coach Colorado Mammoth (NLL) 2002

Head Coach North Shore Indians (WLA) 1998‐99

BC High school Football and Basketball.

As a player Rod played all his minor and junior lacrosse in Richmond. Drafted in the 1st round of 1984
by the

Vancouver Burrards of the WLA. Jensen was a perennial all‐star and top scorer.

WLA totals ‐ 190 goals, 270 assists (460 pts)
Junior A totals ‐ 133 goals, 171 assists (304 pts)

Rod works as a school teacher in Richmond. He is married with three children.

Rod is very enthused to help take the Langley Thunder through the WLA on the road to the Mann Cup.

Joining Rod as an assistant coach is Fred Klomp of Richmond. Shaun Springett (defensive coach 2007‐200) remains on the coaching staff.
