“Langley Thunder Announce Athan Iannucci ready to play in 2011”

The Langley Thunder of the Western Lacrosse Association (WLA) announces the signing of Athan Iannucci for the 2011 season.  Langley traded for the playing rights of Athan at the June 2010 WLA Trading deadline.  “Nooch” is very excited to join the Langley Thunder team.   He joins his Philadelphia Wings team mates Alex Turner, Brodie MacDonald, and exWing Rob Van Beek on a revamped Thunder Team.

Athan scores goals wherever he plays.  He shattered Gary Gaits NLL scoring record of 61 goals by tallying 71 in the 2008 NLL season.  In 2007 he won the WLA Scoring crown (With NW Salmonbellies).   Athan has played 84 WLA games, he has accumulated 154 goals and 167 assists.

Athan joined the Ontario Senior “A” Akwesasne in 2008 and was injured.  The injury forced him to be sidelined for much of 2009 and 2010.  He rejoined the NLL’s Philadelphia Wings this season and  continues his ~ 2 goals per game pace.

“We (Langley Thunder) are very happy that Nooch has committed to a full season of Thunder lacrosse in 2011, his experience and veteran presence will be a welcome addition to our offense and his natural goal scoring and play making abilities will no doubt provide excellent entertainment  for WLA fans this summer”  Rob Buchan – Thunder VP Lacrosse Operations.
